Casino.com and Slots Heaven Closes Their Doors
Casino.com, owned and operated by Mansion Group, closed their doors earlier this year in October 2023. Mansion Group made a difficult decision to leave the UK market, making the hard choice to close their B2C, or business-to-consumer, brands.
Last year, Mansion Group were forced to close their betting platform, and in conjunction with Casino.com also closed a few of their other sites.
Who is Mansion Group
Mansion Group was founded in 2004, and originally was a sportsbook and online casino brand looking to take market shares from bigger, more well-known brands like Ladbrokes and Betfred. Their most popular and well-known sites were those that closed under the names of Casino.com and MansionCasino.com. With almost two decades of experience under their belt, along with several awards; Online Casino Operator of the Year 2018, Most Responsible Online Gambling Operator (Global) 2018, Employee Wellbeing 2019, and Best Customer Service Company 2020, the experience from this company is unparalleled. Unfortunately, due to regulation issues and tough business decisions, their well-known sites are pulling the plug.
How It Started
In March 2022, Mansion Group closed down their betting site MansionBet due to business decisions to focus purely on their iCasino platforms (Online Casinos). Mansion Group explained that the company was choosing to focus their efforts on “profitable markets where it currently operates” and put their energy “solely on casino brands”.
The beginning of 2023 saw the UK gaming industry implementing more stringent regulations for iCasino platforms, driving the decision for Mansion Group to close down their sites and turn in their licensing in January. In light of the MansionBet closure, along with financial issues from a previous CEO and the implementation of stricter regulations, the company decided to completely shut up shop with their other brands by the end of October 2023.
Why They Are Closing
The decision transpired into the closure of Casino.com, MansionCasino.com, and SlotsHeaven.com. Mansion Group released a statement to the public just a few weeks before the shutdown of their sites, explaining that “after careful consideration and evaluation of our business operations, we have made the difficult decision to close B2C operations of our gaming brands, Casino.com and MansionCasino.com”.
The company also outlined that their affiliate program would also be shut down, and access to this platform would be ceased by the 31st of November 2023. Another statement from Mansion Group indicates that they are focusing on “improving their online casino offerings in Spain, Ontario, and other licensed markets”, thus leaving no more room for UK supporters, expressing that “the UK was for many years our core market, and we look forward to sharing 20 years of wonderful customer experiences with all our non-UK clients for many years to come”.
Next Steps
Mansion Group promised to look after their players and affiliates after the closures. Players who had accounts, winnings, and deposits on any of the closing-down sites were urged to withdraw or request a refund of sorts to ensure their money was returned promptly.
Mansion Group provided a week of grace for players to get their accounts in order, in which after where the accounts would be removed, and access would also be revoked. Mansion Group released this statement prior to the affiliate platform shut down, thanking their contributors by saying they “appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this process and wish you well for the future…Warm regards, Mansion Affiliates Team”.
Conclusion
It is sad to hear that some of the most popular online platforms are closing down forever, however there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Doors closing mean that more doors can open; Mansion Group must have something big in the works and have a clear vision of their future to be shutting down their most popular platforms, so this gets us excited for what is yet to come.
